It was already late when the message came in.
“Are you still around?”
We looked at each other. Pajamas were already on. The couch was calling. Tomorrow was going to be long.
Still, we changed back into real clothes and stepped outside, telling ourselves it would be quick. Just one drink. Nothing more.
Of course, it wasn’t.
